When should you wash your wig? How to tell when it's time to wash your synthetic or human hair wig

Synthetic wigs can usually hold up very well for quite a number of wearings. They also don't leave greasy strands near your face .So how do you know when you need to wash it?

When it starts moving like a wig and not like hair, it's time to wash it. When freshly washed, the hair will move independently and will be less clumpy.Hair sections move independently of one another and are less ‘clumpy’ when they're freshly washed. Over time, using wig conditioning sprays may build up, causing the wig to not move as freely as when cleaning. It is important to wash synthetic wigs every 5-10 times wearings.

For human hair wigs, when you start to notice greasy strands near your face (or about 5-10 wearings, depending on the weather), it’s time. A human hair wig needs care like human hair does, including washing, blow drying, styling – and build-up of styling products can mean you may need to wash more frequently (especially in warmer weather.)

If you don't like washing your wigs, your wig salon or stylist will provide this service – even if you wash at home, washing and styling is a good way to restore your hair to its best condition on a regular basis. The best part is that you don't need to keep your hair, and you can wear other wigs while styling. One of the most interesting text messages you received was a text message from your wig stylist that read "Your hair is ready!"

It’s great to get them styled (or get a styling/washing lesson) on a regular basis so you can make sure they last longer and look great. Your wigs are an investment, and taking care of them is critical for wearing them a long time, particularly if you are a daily hair-wearer.
